Mexico City: Mexico is the second ranked place in Latin America where people are murdered because of their sexual orientation, with 420 registered in roughly a decade (from 1995-2006), revealed the Annual Homophobic Crimes Informant 2005/2006 and was elaborated on by Letra S (Letter S), that specializes in subjects of health, sexuality and HIV.
According to the report, for every homicide it mentioned, two were never heard of by the authorities. Because of this, estimates of the figure could be elevated to 1260 homophobic related crimes.

Local media reports that on January 7, 2011, two individuals were found together, dead in front of a pharmacy between the Third and Fourth Avenue of Comayagüela City: an unidentified man of approximately 25-30 years and a travesti woman known as Genesis, who was about 23-27 years old.

The chairman of Russia's Constitutional Court, Valery Zorkin, said Dec. 23
that the recent European Court of Human Rights decision that struck down
Moscow City Hall's annual bans of gay pride disrespected Russian
